Back on Schedule
WorldMovers is back on schedule this week! We will be discussing the cover story for the July 30 issue (pictured here): "Life or Death."
I will be bringing the four copies that the church supplies. I will also print out several copies of the cover article from the online version. If you have subscribed but have not yet begun receiving your hard copies in the mail, remember that you can request a password and read (and print) the online edition.

Watchdogs take on Pentagon
Once again watchdog groups are on the prowl in Washington, this time attacking possible bias in the data used to support the current repeal of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (DADT) policy in regard to homosexuality.
DADT was formulated in 1993 as conciliation between then-President Bill Clinton and a conservative Congress. The military has discharged roughly 13,000 troops from the military under the policy. In December 2010, Congress passed the repeal – as was pledged by President Obama when he took office. The Obama administration has cleared the last hurdle in ending DADT, and the ban will end after the 60-day waiting period on September 20, 2011.
From the time the repeal was passed, a host of conservative groups have spoken out about the moral implications of this repeal. Read more here.

Tales of the Resistance
Last Saturday, July 30, fifteen of Tucson's choicest young people met at the Circle K on the corner of Hardy and Magee to bless people with a free car wash in Jesus' name! If course, it was hard to get people to believe it was really free - just as people try to earn salvation, or wait until they are "good enough."
The incomparable Steve Johnson made the observation that many school and church groups would be hard pressed to get 15 souls to wash cars on a Saturday AM in the summer, even if were to make money to consume upon their own pleasures!
Not so the Resistance of Dove Mountain Church, however:
Delighted to serve,
Delighted to be together, and
Delighted in the Lord!
Special thanks to Maddy Cooney for organizing the pool party afterwards - for those who were not wet enough!

Meet Samuel live!
This past Monday I posted a video of son Samuel who is Summer Program Director for Uncharted Waters Sports Ministry of Colorado Springs. I am hosting a luncheon Saturday, August 6, to connect Tucsonans with Samuel and his passion for evangelizing children. I would like any Dove Mountaineers to feel welcome to attend this event, but need to know how many to plan for. If you would like to come, please email me at tomaskew@mac.com and I will give you the details. To get a taste of what he does, enjoy the video!

"The gospel of the kingdom..."

Stahleck Castle at Bacharach - gone to seed and in need of redemption |
Matthew 9:35-38 35And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. 37Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest

A reminder from last Sunday's sermon to be renewed continually by the gospel...
